The 3 C’s: Childcare, Career, and Coronavirus
It’s a balancing act

For many, it’s been stressful trying to stay safe. It’s also been important to watch the news to make sure we are aware of updates like schools closing, restaurants shutting down, & a lack of access to food supply. Here in New York City, It’s easy to see that a lot can change in a day. Another stressor is trying to still do meaningful work while watching the kids because the schools are closed. For those with toddlers, it’s hard to truly multitask listening actively to an important meeting, focus super hard to analyze or evaluate something, and prevent the little one getting a new knot on the head from bumping into something. We considered flying out to our parents to pursue childcare. But at the last minute decided it wasn’t worth the risk. Getting a new nanny also introduces risk through the transit they would have to take to see us. What really put us at ease is knowing that we are not the only ones dealing with this. Everyone is dealing with childcare issues so we are in this together. Everyone has limitations on their schedule so it will be harder to enforce this when the enforcer is dealing with the same potential issue. So in the meantime, we can all focus on staying safe and taking the steps necessary to reduce further contagion.
